CQ WPX SSB Contest
Huron County Ham Alan AC8AP operated from PJ2-land
SRC members Ben KD8FUY and Karl K8ARL had a local "DX-pedition" from the Miller Conservation Farm on Sunday, March 25. This is the place W8ID called home for the 2011 ARRL Field Day. We operated in the CQ WPX SSB Contest -- WPX is Worldwide Prefix.
The weather was cold, drizzling and windy for most of our time. It was supposed to get up to 67 degrees. Well, it did just as we closed up shop at 5:15 PM. The sun came out and it got really warm. Oh, well!
We ran on the 10-meter band with a standard dipole. We also had three guests who have decided to start studying for their Technician license.
We had a lot of fun. You should try holding your own local DX-pedition. There are a lot of nice places around Seneca County. Don't forget to check availability and make reservations for a location.
Alan AC8AP from Huron County operated from PJ2-land as PJ2T. He also could be heard prior to the contest as PJ2/AC8AP. Alan operated as a Single Op, Single Band (10-meters) at High Power. He did very well.

Space Weather
The sun is sure acting up these days
The sun plays a big part in radio communications. Sometimes this is good -- witness the re-birth of 10 meters. Sometimes it is bad -- take note of the sun's activity with solar flares and CMEs (Coronal Mass Ejections). It is really acting up these last few weeks.
